In this article, I will show you the easiest way to get Chinese Visa in Busan , Korea for all visitors (tourism purpose) including travelers with only stamp in the passport (without Korean Visa or alien card for foreigner).

*Note: The visa is for China Mainland only. If you need visa for HongKong, Macau and Taiwan, please click here for more information.

Starting from January 24, 2014, all the ordinary passport holders wishing to visit mainland China are requested to apply for visas at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) . That means you won’t be able to apply Chinese Visa in Busan directly at Chinese Consulate (and even Seoul) anymore.

This map shows where Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) located. It’s not far away from Dongbaek station (1 km) so you can just walk there in a few minutes.

You would see this building on the way with a big I-PARK on top of it. Enter this area, turn right and find the C1 Building just around there. Go up to the 5th Floor of C1 Building, then this is what you should see:

Applying Chinese Visa in Busan

The staff will guide you what you should do then. Upon arrival, you will:

     Obtain a queue number for submitting your application; please wait for your number to be called

     Submit your application at the counter designated for handling the particular queue number

     Receive a pick-up form, which is a receipt showing the information of your application and expected date for collection

     Please CHECK all the particulars on the pick-up form; should you have any questions about the information printed on it, please contact the staff immediately. Always carefully retain the pick-up form as it must be shown when collecting your passport.

To save your time, you should prepare all the documents at home before you go to apply Chinese Visa (see what you need at the end of this article).

**You should make your application well in advance of the planned travel date. You are advised to apply ONE month in advance but no earlier than THREE months.



Payment methods and schedule of fees. 


Besides collecting visa fees and express visa fees on behalf of the Embassy/Consulate-General, CVASC also charges service fees (inclusive of VAT) of 20,000 KRW per visa for regular application, 30,000 KRW per visa for express application, 10,000 KRW per visa for regular group visa application, 15,000 KRW per visa for express group visa application , 25,000 KRW (exclusive of postage) per visa for single return postal application, and 30,000 KRW (exclusive of postage) per visa for double return postal application.

1. Payment methods:

(1) At the Visa Center: This Visa Centre accepts cash, debit Card, Credit Card and cheque. Travel agencies can also pay by remittance.

(2) By post: Make the payment through remittance.The Visa Center staff will inform you of the amount of payment when your passport is ready for return.You can remit the payment to the Visa center, and indicate your passport number and pickup form in the remittance information column.

After finishing applying documents, depending on your choice of service, the Visa Center will give you this Pickup Form with your information. You should come back on the appointed day to pick up your visa.

Service options provided by the Visa Centre (in the case of all the required documents are provided)

1. Regular service: The processing time is usually 4 working days.

2. Express service: The processing time is usually 2 working days.

3. Urgent service: The processing time is usually 1 working day.

4. Postal service: The processing time is usually 10 working days.

1. Basic Documents

(1) Passport Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with blank visa pages, a photocopy of the passport’s data page and the photo page if it is separate

(2) Visa Application Form and Photo One completed Visa Application Form with a recently-taken colour passport photo (bare-head, full face) against a light background (size: 48mm x 33mm) attached There are two ways to prepare your application form. You may complete an Online Application Form (where a Visa Center provides such service), print it out and sign it; or, you can download the application form from our website and fill it out manually and sign it. Please remember to bring the completed form to the Visa Center to submit your application.

(3) Proof of legal status (applicable for those not applying for the visa in their country of citizenship) If you are not applying for the visa in the country of your citizenship, you must provide the original and photocopy of your valid certificates of residence, employment or student status, or other valid certificates of legal stay provided by the relevant authorities of the country where the Visa Center is located.

(4) Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable for those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained Korean citizenship) If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you should provide the last Chinese passport held and a photocopy of its data page. If you are non-Korean national of other foreign nationals and have obtained Chinese visas before and apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should present the photocopy of the previous passport’s data page and the photo page if it is separate, as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).

2. Supporting documents

Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation, etc. or an Invitation Letter for Tourist issued by a relevant unit or individual in China. The Invitation Letter should contain: (1) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, passport number, etc.); (2) Details of the planned visit (incl. arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, accommodation arrangements, etc.); (3) Information of the inviting party (incl. name of organization or person concerned, contact telephone number, address, official stamp of the organization, signature of the legal representative or individual, inscribed date).

3. Special notes

(1)The invitation letter may be in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout, but the consular officer may require the applicant to submit the original of the invitation letter. An issuer of invitation letter who is an individual in China should also provide a photocopy of his/her Chinese ID. (2)If necessary, the consular officer may require the applicant to provide other proof documents or supplementary materials, or require an interview with the applicant. (3)The consular officer will decide on whether or not to issue the visa and on its validity, duration of stay and number of entries in light of specific conditions of the applicant.

Overall, things you need to bring:

-Chinese visa application form

-Copies of your plane tickets

-Copies of your hotel reservations

-If there are nights you didn’t book hotels because you’re taking overnight trains, copies of your overnight train reservations

-1 visa photo ( you can get this from a photo machine in most subway stations for 10,000 won for 3 pictures)

-Your passport

-Your ARC (Alien Registration Card) ? If you have, leave them a copy of it as they will ask for it. They don’t keep it , and you might not need this.

You DON’T need:

-a letter from your work verifying you work or study there (I got one and she didn’t even open it, just handed it right back to me.)

If you get there and realize you forgot to print something. They have a printer there that they will let you use!
